How to Choose the Right Bracelet Size: Simple Measuring Guide
You've found the perfect beaded bracelet, but which size should you pick? It's THE question our customers ask us most often at Koss Design. A bracelet that's too tight is uncomfortable, one that's too loose risks slipping off — the perfect fit makes all the difference between a piece you love wearing and one that stays in your jewelry box.
Good news: measuring your wrist is simple and takes less than 2 minutes. Here's how.
How to measure your wrist
Method 1: With a soft measuring tape
This is the most accurate method. Wrap a soft measuring tape around your wrist, just above the wrist bone (where you'd normally wear a bracelet). The tape should be snug but not tight — you should be able to slide a finger underneath. Note the measurement in centimeters.
Method 2: With a string or ribbon
If you don't have a measuring tape, use a string, ribbon, or even a strip of paper. Wrap it around your wrist, mark where it meets, then measure the length with a ruler. Simple and effective.
Method 3: With an existing bracelet
If you already have a bracelet that fits perfectly, lay it flat and measure the inner diameter. Multiply by 3.14 (pi) to get the circumference of your wrist.
Koss Design sizes
At Koss Design, we offer two sizes for most of our Miyuki beaded bracelets:
S/M (14–17 cm) — For wrists measuring 14 to 17 cm in circumference. This is the most common size for women. If your wrist measures between 14 and 16 cm, this is your size.
L/XL (17–20 cm) — For wrists measuring 17 to 20 cm in circumference. Ideal for wider wrists or if you prefer a more relaxed fit.
All our bracelets are made with high-quality elastic cord that offers 2–3 cm of flexibility. That means an S/M bracelet fits comfortably across a range of wrist sizes, not a single exact measurement.
Which fit should you choose?
The "right" fit depends on your personal preferences:
Snug fit: The bracelet hugs your wrist with little movement. Ideal for sport or a sleek look. Choose a bracelet whose size matches your wrist circumference exactly.
Comfortable fit (recommended): The bracelet moves slightly on your wrist — enough to be comfortable but not enough to slip over your hand. Add 0.5–1 cm to your wrist circumference. This is the fit we recommend for everyday wear.
Relaxed fit: The bracelet is loose enough to move freely. Popular for stacking. Add 1–2 cm to your wrist circumference, or pick the size up.
Stacking tips
If you plan to stack several bracelets, keep these tips in mind:
Not all your bracelets need to be the same size. A mix of fits — some snugger, some looser — creates a more natural and dynamic stack.
Wider bracelets (like our flat-bead bracelets) are often worn slightly tighter, while thin bracelets can be looser.
When in doubt
If you're hesitating between two sizes, we generally recommend going up. A slightly larger bracelet is more comfortable than one that's too tight, and the elastic cord will naturally adapt to your wrist over time.
